FM synthesizer is still popular among many people by its unique tone. We carefully selected parameters from original synthesizer so you will be enjoy editing tone with them easily. You need to know some technique to tweak the tone, but you will be able to get DXis special tone and effects while having some fun!
Creating sound effects is another idea to enjoy DXi.

We loaded 16 step loop sequencer as a bonus feature!

If you remember the days of FM synthesizers, try creating the tone you remember from them.
If you have no experience with any FM synthesizer, we are sure you will be enjoying the unique tone world!

Pros and cons of DXi FM synthesizer app for iPhone and iPad

DXi FM synthesizer app good for

…make it a real Retina-GUI App, please. ;-) And there are "silent moments" if i switch the Editors-Modes. By the Way: What about 6-Operator FM-Algorithms? :-)
I like this one. Has a strong sound. Incredible noise is possible, easy to manipulate, sounds lonesome and aggressive in one. Love it.
Yea this is truely inspiring little synth that sounds absolutely grate. And yes you can professionally use that one. The new upgrade brings long awaited sustain pedal support... thats a small but important thing on a synth that is so useful specialy for chords and layer stuff. So again thanks a lot for your smart work and keep on like this! Greeting from port of Hamburg
Very cool app, only 2 bucks and it does 4 operator FM synthesis like many of the pst DX7 instruments. Touch envelopes make programming fast and effects, sequencing, and a recording audio copy/paste feature make it perfect for creating parts to add into a multitrack app.
There is something soothing and very smooth about this synth. Perhaps my favourite quality is the polyphonic glide ability. (Try, for example, using the syn bass preset with chord voicings around middle C, using polyphonic glides to transition via semitones from chord to chord): Sounds kind of like a pedal steel in effect. Wow. The presets are musical and just fantastic. The controls are amazing. One screen (on iPad) and yet so much power! Other synths take note! (No pun intended). Thank you!
Do you a favor, take a small 2$ from your pocket, 2$ for this awesome little thing with vast possibility!!! Damn!! Cant believe it... Great synth, thanks!!

Some bad moments

Where do we set the midi channel on ipad 2???? Waiting for the upgrade.
What about people who wants to stay under IOS 8.1.2 ? Why IOS 8.4 required?
Too small. Controls and sequencer need to get bigger for it to be enjoyable on my mini. Hope this happens soon.
This is promising app which emulates a 4-operator (aka four oscillator, but in FM you usually use at least one oscillator as a modulator) FM synthesizer like the DX-100 or TX-81Z. The sound is nice and it has a nice set of Yamaha-style algorithms (i.e. ways of wiring up your carrier and modulator oscillators), and a variety of waveforms (i.e. more than must sine waves) give you additional flexibility. Effects include a basic delay/chorus and fixed lowpass filter which can be used to cut some FM grunge for soft sounds. Audio cut and paste and a simple step sequencer are also nice. Unfortunately, the app is just not very usable because the sound keeps dropping out! Please keep working on it, because I would love to have a nice FM synth on the iPad!!
The last two times I used this app, the display zoomed in by itself, and even when I closed the app, the display would not go back to normal without a hard reset. Im afraid there might be a virus (dont take my word for it, I dont know for sure!)
It crashes immediately after touching the keyboard. I hope a fix comes soon.
